Rudi Gelper
Rudi’s professional background is rooted in a multi‑generational involvement in maritime operations and inspection services. Drawing on this long‑standing foundation, he established International Nautical Services (INS) in Belgium in 1998, followed by the launch of INS Netherlands in 2001. Over the years, this has resulted in a recognised track record of independent, technically sound and detail‑driven survey work for an international client base.
With the opening of a permanent office in Cape Town, South Africa, INS has expanded its operational reach into the southern hemisphere, providing survey, inspection and advisory services throughout Africa, the Indian Ocean region, Australia and surrounding markets, while maintaining the same professional standards and independence that define the company’s work worldwide.

Rudi has carried out assignments in more than 50 countries and port regions, developing extensive technical expertise along with a strong understanding of local practices, regulatory frameworks, and operational standards across diverse jurisdictions.

Credentials & Scope
Rudi is a HISWA-certified yacht surveyor. His qualifications include certification through organisations such as HISWA-RECRON (The Netherlands), the European Maritime Certification Institute (EMCI), VRT, the Register of Valuers, as well as appointment as a sworn surveyor, weigher, and estimator for the Commercial Court of Antwerp.
